The TriEndurance vision was founded by Jared Berg
as a coaching entity eight years ago. Jared Berg began coaching
triathletes even before he was an experienced triathlete himself. Golf,
soccer, and weight lifting were Jared’s first sporting interests. If
his mom asked him to go for a run, he would reply “why run if no
one is chasing me?” As a slightly chubby kid, Jared swam from the
diving board to the pool’s edge, ran after soccer balls, and biked to
his caddie job. Jared never competed in any of these events formally
until deep into his Kinesiology Studies at the University of Minnesota.
Learning how to swim, bike and run as an adult has turned out to be an
asset to Jared’s coaching because it allows him to coach from a
beginner triathlete’s perspective as well as an elite triathlete’s
point of view. Using exercise physiology
principles studied at the University of Minnesota, Jared guided both an
Olympic distance triathlete and an Ironman athlete through a successful
season while competing in his first year as a triathlete himself.
During this same year Jared created and coached a 50-person marathon
training club. Realizing his potential to coach and compete as a
triathlete, Jared pursued a future revolving around his new found
passion. During his second triathlon season he successfully coached
over 20 triathletes, won some local races, qualified for and raced
Ironman World Championship Hawaii. Jared continued on as a student,
teacher and ambassador of triathlon through the last eight years. He
has been slowly building a coaching client base, conducting triathlon
camps and clinics, instructing triathlon training groups, training with
experienced athletes and coaches, working in sports medicine
facilities, coaching Nordic skiing and racing as a professional
triathlete and elite Nordic skier.
